Edge Hill Prize for the Short Story

The Edge Hill Prize is awarded annually by Edge Hill University for excellence in a published single author short story collection. The 2009 award was bestowed on Chris Beckett for The Turing Test. The other shortlisted authors were Gerard Donovan, Anne Enright, Shena Mackay and Ali Smith. The recipient of the 2010 award will be drawn from a shortlist of five, to  be announced in May 2010. The winner will receive a cheque for  5000 and an original piece of artwork specially commissioned by Blackwell. An additional Readers’ Choice award of £1000 is awarded  to a writer from the shortlist. These will be presented at an award ceremony at the Blackwell Bookshop, Charing Cross Road, London in July. Each publisher is entitled to submit two collections published during  2009. Authors must be born or normally resident in the British Isles (including Ireland). The judges reserve the right to call in entries  in addition to those submitted by publishers. 

Three copies of each published collection must be submitted to Katherine Straker, Department of Research, Edge Hill University, St Helens Road, Ormskirk L39 4QP
